Angkor Wat
Built in the early 12th century as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, Angkor Wat gradually transformed into a Buddhist site. Its five lotus-bud towers symbolize Mount Meru, and the outer gallery walls are covered in extraordinary bas-reliefs.
Top tip: Arrive before 5:00 AM to secure a front-row spot for sunrise, then continue clockwise to avoid the midday crowds.
