Siem Reap has a stand-up comedy scene, and Angkor Comedy is it. Founded in 2024 by Princella Anum Gill and Freddy Maze — who met at an open mic in Phnom Penh in 2022 — the collective now runs a monthly showcase that pulls in resident comics, Phnom Penh regulars and touring acts passing through Southeast Asia. The showcases have found a home at Pomme Siem Reap and The Panthers Hut, after years of moving between venues across the city — Ground Zero, White Rabbit, Sojourner House, Phsar Khmer, Pub Street. Guests have included Papa CJ, Phil Koo, K.C. Cheng and Jonathan Samson. The crowd is a genuine mix; at one recent charity show it was 80% Cambodian. Alongside the showcases they run free open mics every month, which is where most of the local talent comes from, and they are building a Comedy School with workshops and beginner courses. Tickets are $5–$10. Open mics are free. Dates change every month. Angkor Comedy announces each showcase — date, venue and lineup — on their Facebook and Instagram, usually a week or two ahead. The date shown on this page is the anchor for the monthly series, not a guaranteed date for every month. Check their channels, or watch this calendar, for the confirmed night. Visiting comedians are welcome to ask for a spot on the bill.
